‘Treat the person, not the disease’
Through his medical career, Dr Edward Back studied his patients very carefully noting their personality, behaviour patterns, emotional outlook and their hidden fears. His philosophy was “treat the person not the disease”
Dr Bach divided his 38 flower remedies into 7 groups, as follows –
Group 1 – those who have fear
Group 2 – for those who suffer uncertainty
Group 3 – not sufficient interest in present circumstances
Group 4 – loneliness
Group 5 over-sensitive to influences and idea’s
Group 6 – for despondency and despair
Group 7 – over-care for welfare of others
Group 3 – not sufficient interest in present circumstances – 7 remedies
1. clematis – the ‘day dreamer’ remedy
Negative aspects – dreamy, drowsy, poor memory, absentminded, living in the future, lack of energy, impractical. It is one of the five rescue remedies.
Positive aspects – to live fully in the present with a clear mind and a positive outlook.
2. Honeysuckle. The living in the past remedy.
Negative aspects. Nostalgia, home sickness, constantly reliving past memories. Helpful for bereavement or redundancy
Positive aspects. The bring reassurances. The present is a safe and happy place, let go of all past memeoreis holding one back.
3 wild rose. The “apathy and Resignation” remedy.
Negative aspects. Lack of energy, lack of ambition, happy to lead a dull uninteresting life, resigned to their way of life, no interest in improving their circumstances.
Positive aspects. A lively interest in life and work, finds a sense of purpose, accepts responsibility, becomes interested in people and events.
